Eight Summer Life Savers with X NIHILO

Well Christmas has been and gone (yes, already!) but the silly season isn’t over yet. Summer in Australia is always a crazy time of year. From Christmas, New Years and Australia Day to weekend wine tours, endless weddings, birthdays and lets not forget festivals too! Summer is an insanely busy time of year which means looking after yourself is even more important now than ever. I’ve teamed up with X NIHILO and their gorgeous EIGHT MINI bag to share with you my EIGHT Summer Life Savers you can count on to get you through the silly season.

Before I get stuck into the list of life savers, you should know that having a go-to Summer bag is always at the top of my list when the weather warms up. As soon as things get heated we all love transitioning into a Summer wardrobe and as much as I am a bag gal, I do find having an everyday bag that does it all is always a priority.

The Eight Mini by X NIHILO is that bag. The bag. The bag that does it all. Sure the rich tan leather was the draw card for me (can you honestly blame me?) but this bag is an ‘it’ piece in every way. It’s versatile shape, mistakenly large interior and endless carry options are just some of the reasons the Eight Mini is a sought after bag. Being a 20 something woman I feel you when you say you want a quality, on trend, designer bag without a Saint Laurent price tag – am I right? X NIHILO pride themselves on representing their brand that constructs quality bags with innovative and diverse designs at a price point that won’t force you to eat two minute noodles for the first three months of the year! And did I mention – they’re an Australian label?! In a time where fast fashion is getting faster and faster by the minute, it’s more important now than ever to support our own businesses that create sustainable fashion. The brand is based in Melbourne and the founder, Jen, focuses her designs around unique shapes and aesthetics rather than trends, so each piece remains timeless. Through each design, Jen communicates a personal touch by naming her pieces after streets she’s lived on. It’s Jen’s vision for the brand that really makes you feel that by owning an X NIHILO design, you really are a part of something bigger. See the entire collection at xnihilo.com.au

Now onto the Summer Life Savers – in keeping with supporting local, all of these are Aussie made or designed too!

My Eight Summer Life Savers:

1. Lucas Paw Paw Ointment – okay it might be an obvious one but you can’t tell me it’s not the most common item found in a girls handbag. Dry lips? Paw Paw, Sunburn? Paw Paw, Insect Bite? Paw Paw – need I go on?

2. Bath Box Charred Face Mask – Is there anything better than a charchoal face mask? No. Is there any problem that can’t be solved with a facemask? No. You know I’m right.

3. Nivea After Sun Moisture cream – okay this one really is a life saver! When you’ve got major after-sun regret, you’re gonna want to have this bad boy in the cupboard. So much moisture in this one and so soothing with the Aloe Vera content – you’re gonna want to buy this stat.

4. Bondi Sands Tanning Foam – Okay the colour is a personal choice but if you’re a pale pancake like me, you’ll need to go ultra dark. This one is essential for Summer!

5. Thankyou. Hand Wash – I love having this around the house. I’m prone to dry skin and soaps can be iffy for me but this one works. Not only does the minimal design match my matt black taps and bathroom aesthetic but all of the proceeds go to fighting global poverty. Definitely a cause worth supporting.

6. EVO Icon Welder – weird name, great product. Hair gets so dry so quickly in Summer so don’t sizzle it off by avoiding heat protect!

7. Damselfly Candles – Okay this isn’t really a Summer thing, it’s an all year round thing. These candles are seriously amazing and the perfect home decor piece that look gorgeous around the house and smell incredible!

8. Jolie & Deen Jewellery – LOVE LOVE LOVE this brand! Minimal, on trend yet timeless, delicate, quality pieces that you can wear day after day. I love layering my necklaces for more detail and wearing the gorgeous pearl drop earrings for a point of difference. Day to night wear – this label is your life saver in the jewellery world. It’s so easy to find on trend pieces but to find QUALITY on trend pieces – now that’s what I’m talking about!

Happy New Year everyone – looking forward to creating more new content throughout 2019!

Down by the Sea ~ with MVN the label

Well after what seems like an eternity of Winter, Spring is finally here!

If there’s one label that knows how to do florals (and I’m talking groundbreaking! 😉 ) it’s MVN the label! I fell in love with this number instantly because it reminds me of a dress my Nan used to wear every Summer. The vintage shape and the retro floral print makes it that lil somethin’ somethin’ different to add to your wardrobe this Spring.

Style it back with mules and a crossbody for a day out lunching or team it back with sneakers and a belt bag for a day at the markets. This is the piece you can work with almost anything!

Dressing for Winter, Dreaming of Summer ~ with MVN the Label

When Winter in Australia looks like this, we really can’t complain too much can we?!

Sure, there are days of bucketing rain and thunder storms but when we’re lucky, Winter days in Australia sometimes look like this. Don’t let the sunshine fool you, these boots are for keeping the pins toasty, as much as they are for the fashion cred!

No matter what season it is though, stripes are something I’ll always go back to. They’re the it print in every season, made for layering and longevity – we know they’ll never go out of style. This little number by MVN the Label is surprisingly super versatile! I actually can’t wait to wear this piece in Spring because it’s so light and beachy, but paired back with boots and a boyfriend blazer this piece is elevated to a whole new level of versatility. In fact with anything in my wardrobe I try not to label it as a “Summer” or “Winter” piece. Try working your Summer dresses into your Autumn looks with ankle boots, stockings and leather jackets for a wardrobe curve ball!

Time After Time ~ with JORD Watches

If there’s one accessory that will add class to your wardrobe and amp up your style, it’s a timepiece. Call me old fashioned but in a world of smart watches, I still seem to be reaching for a classic watch – time after time (pun intended).

JORD Watches take a new turn in classic timepieces with their whole collection crafted from immaculate wood. Designed for the modern everyday lifestyle, the choices are endless with plenty of styles and wood types to choose from. My watch, FRANKIE, is in Ebony wood with gold accents, making styling simple from day to night. Where possible, I always opt for fashion that’s versatile and timeless to ensure maximum wear with minimal stress! I love that the Ebony wood in FRANKIE is dark enough to team with a chic and seamless head-to-toe black outfit and yet still manages to bring character to a casual weekend look incorporating denim and leather.

If Ebony wood is too dark for you, you might like the smokey touch of WALNUT or DARK SANDALWOOD. Alternatively you could opt for something beachy and fresh like OLIVE or MAPLE. And if you’re unlike me and are equipped with a smart watch, you can shop Apple bands via their website as well. Whether it’s for yourself or a gift for someone special, JORD has you covered for timepieces for both men and women – not to mention the option to engrave if it a gift you’re looking for!

I’ve partnered up with JORD to bring one of my followers a $100 JORD gift voucher! Simply follow this link https://www.woodwatches.com/g/wayofwear for your chance to win. Entries close 10th June so don’t miss out!

The Finising Touch ~ with Murphy Made Jewellery

In a fashion era where minimalism is at its max, it’s so important to put that finishing touch on an outfit. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge advocate for less is more but I believe there’s a difference between a minimalistic aesthetic and just wearing the bare minimum.

I love a look where minimal pieces are used to create an outfit mood but I always find that accessories are that finishing touch on every minimal look.

Murphy Made Jewellery hand make all of their pieces and you can tell with every one of their creations, there’s been a lot of thought considered. Murphy Made Jewellery focus on the aesthetic of minimal style in every piece, whether its the unique but subtle shape of the white marble hoops or the organic wood of the bamboo twists.

I always love to throw a trend piece into the wardrobe mix throughout each season and accessories are a great way to “dip your toe in” and experiment with the new! We started to see glimpses of tortoise shell throughout the warmer seasons but it seems to have taken off since then, transitioning into accents in earrings, buttons on coats and pants, buckles on shoes and belts and the list goes on. Where one can have tortoise shell – one will have tortoise shell! Keeping in tone with the minimalistic aesthetic, I love the idea of styling these tortoise shell hoops with a basic go-to. look for that extra point of difference!

Well I’m pretty sure Summer just started but apparently it’s over already! Okay let’s go with this Autumn thing then (only becuase I have a serious obsession with the Winter wardrobe!).

Winter fashion is taking a serious turn this year in shoes, with headlining trends including cone and kitten heels, bold whites and reds and the pointed toe has finally made a comeback (hallelujah!).

The UNITED boot from Betts makes a style statement with the cone meets kitten heel and circle zip detail. This is the perfect boot for a corporate look and can easily be teamed with a black mini for Friday night .

I’m not a colour person when it comes to fashion so for me white is bold. It’s the ultimate wow factor to finish the outfit without going too far out of the comfort zone.
