A New York Minute

The days pass in the blink of an eye in NYC. One minute it’s sunrise and the next, it’s dusk. It’s such a fast paced city with something happening everywhere, all the time. In a busy city like this, the best thing you can do is just take it all in. Explore the streets and cafe’s that are rich in character and admire the fashion and style that surrounds you. The boutique’s are one thing but just by walking through the city, you find yourself face to face with the trends and labels fresh off the catwalk. Everyone with their own unique and individual style, wanting to turn heads on what can only be imagined as their own runway – the city streets.

Keeping in with the tone of “turning heads”, this look is a little more edgy to create a grungy street look. We all know grunge’s best friend is ripped jeans so where would this look be without a pair? Instead of the typical (but ever so loved) boyfriend fit, I chose the mum jeans. Mum jeans are a little more tapered at the leg and usually are a mid waist to create a feminine silhouette. A chunky grey knit for warmth layered with my staple piece (the black leather biker jacket), to outline the waist, creates the ultimate minimalist street look. Finishing off the look with a chunky grey scarf, an oversized bag of the same colour palette and my go-to black booties. This look can easily be adjusted to suit different climates simply by just adding and removing layers! Swap the booties for Birkenstocks and add a basic tee and sun hat to transform this outfit from winter to summer!
