Well 2018 is here and wow did it come around fast! Wasn’t it only October like a week ago?!
Ready or not the new year is well and truely under way and so are all of those New Years resolutions (anyone caved with theirs already??)
I tend not to make a “resolution” as such myself but I do feel like a new year always feels like a great opportunity for a fresh start. One thing I always opt to do better in is staying organised. I am a self confessed, unorganised and last minute type of gal who is nine times out of ten, running late!
Unorganised and disheveled or not, I seek inspiration in the new year for a better start.
Staying to a routine, especially when it’s new, can take some getting used to (and some kicking your butt into gear!). But one thing that always helps me out is a bag that you can fit everything into (kitchen sink included!!). If you can take all that you need with you to stay organised then you’re already off to a great start to an organised 2018. This year is going to be full of wedding planning and house building so more often than not I’ll be needing to lug notebooks and documents around with me.
The Julie bag by X Nihilo is every gals best friend to shove everything from your notebook and diary to your laptop and lippy into. With a chic handbag exterior and a sturdy, padded interior you can seriously take this bag from place to place – no matter your daily routine.
I love that this bag has the silver statement handles for a point of difference but still serves practicality with its long shoulder strap. If you’re like me and catch a train or bus to work, the durability of the pebbled leather will work highly in your favour for optimum wear and minimal tear.

I have two Summer uniforms that rotate in my wardrobe through the silly season and they are…
1. The throw on easy-to-wear no-brainer Summer dress.
This is the perfect piece that gets you through those scorching Summer days (if they ever actually turn up!) to keep you cool and to keep you “cool” (you know what I mean). It doesn’t get much easier than a sheer number with a built in slip and strappy sandals to match! That is the effortless Summer go-to that you need to invest in this season. It’s so easy to create and to be honest, you probably already have it sitting in your closet! Just elevate the look and change up the style with a new pair of block heels and you’re good to go!
(TIP: An all black outfit looks sharp with tan accessories and lightens the look)
2. Straight leg jeans and an easy tuck in shirt.
Its honestly as simple as it sounds. Straight leg jeans are a brilliant cut for all body shapes and heights. They slim the waist and don’t shorten the leg like other cuts (I’m looking at you bootleg!). Button up shirts are my favourite becuase they are so easy to pair with anything and are suitable for everything. Long sleeve or short sleeve you can cuff it, roll it, scrunch it, tie it or tuck it but every time you’ll be able to create a slightly different look that will make all the difference. Throw on a pair of your easiest and comfiest Summer slides and you’re weekend ready!

There was a time when florals were drab and tired and not so “ground-breaking” for Spring (insert clip of Miranda Priestley) but C/MEO COLLECTIVE has well and truely brought flora back to life, with their newest collection – ORNATE.
Chanelling some serious Gucci vibes, the collection is a breath of fresh air not only in Spring fashion but Australian fashion as we know it. I love to style statement pieces with my everyday wardrobe essentials including mum jeans and mules. Team a bold print with a pair of your best jeans and you’ll execute an effortlessly stylish look. Mules for me are that thing I won’t be seen out of this season – they’re just too damn easy to style! If you’re like me (always running late and leaving yourself short for time) they’re the ultimate, fail safe wardrobe staple. As a self confessed Gucci fiend, I couldn’t resist finishing this look with touches of Gucci gold.

If you haven’t already jumped on the bandwagon – it’s time to! Loafers are the ‘it’ trend taking the fashion world by storm. Gucci is the ultimate fashion house behind the epidemic but it’s snowballed everywhere from high street to fast fashion since.
I love getting on board a new trend but I’m also a strong believer in investing in timeless pieces that last. The one thing I love most about loafers is not only the comfort and effortless factors (duh!) but that they’re a wardrobe item you can pair back with just about anything.
The first outfit I’ve teamed Betts loafers BEAST with a long line textured skirt, slogan tee and a boyfriend denim jacket. I worked the outfit around the skirt as it provides more structure and from there added the slogan tee for the instant style factor and boyfriend jacket to dress it down for casual wear. You could easily swap the denim jacket for a leather biker or structured bomber for a more elevated look. BEAST really is the perfect loafer to ad that attention to detail with the gold buckle and is super versatile from the office to running errands.
The second outfit is the ultimate casual Friday look. BAZAAR is chic in it’s minimalist style and will go with everything and anything in your wardrobe for seasons to come. Cut off mum jeans, a half tucked shirt, shades and a sailor hat is the outfit with lots of elements without the hassle!
Honestly, loafers are a wardrobe staple that once you invest in you’ll be reaching for everyday (self confessed!).

We all know that the sleeve trend is going cray and I don’t know about you guys but my obsession with a statement sleeve has only just begun!
The Birdcage Boutique brings us banger after banger and this set from C/MEO COLLECTIVE is no exception. The silky silhouette and split sleeve detailing makes this the ultimate weekend wardrobe essential. The, so-on-trend-right-now, off-the-shoulder style isn’t like you’ve seen it before with it’s asymmetric neck line and low shoulder cut. It’s the trend you’ve been loving since Summer but with a fresh new feel!
Sleeves are having a fashion moment right now and it’s right along side of frills! The frill hem detail transforms the skirt from a wardrobe basic into a wardrobe statement. Team these pieces together for a seamless and effortless look or style them separately for any occasion from casual to cocktails! This creamy khaki tone is perfect for styling with any neutral including nude, grey, black and even blush to add a refreshing pop of colour into your Winter wardrobe.

If there’s one thing that will get you through that mid season schlump it’s your basics… so you better have good ones!
Starting with the shoes (because they are the exclamation point of every outfit!), the EQUINOX ankle boots are the Betts must have this season. When you’re hunting for that perfect pair they should be a height that can be dressed up or down and comfortable for all day wear. I always feel that little bit dressier with a heel but these are the ideal height to wear from the office to dinner to drinks! The V shaped elastic gusset adds that extra touch so it stands out from every other Chelsea boot. You can have them too! Check out betts.com.au
A go-to knit is a Winter essential if you ever had one but this one is that perfect throw over to take you from Winter to Spring. Grey is my wardrobe staple and on high rotation in my wardrobe. I constantly find myself asking shop assistants “does this come in grey?” So the answer to your question, yes I have a grey addiction.
I’m trying to figure out what I wore before Mum Jeans were a thing! Skinny jeans just don’t cut it anymore. Maybe that’s because I’ve cut all of my jeans!! They’re honestly the easiest piece to style in the wardrobe. Any top, any knit, tuck it in and you’re good to go. Throw over a trench or biker jacket for extra warmth and extra style!
Last but not least, a bag you can throw anything into. Anything and everything that is! I feel like Winter requires so many more essentials than Summer. A scarf, gloves, comfort food… what… who said that?
The best basics should be good quality so they can see you through for seasons to come. So invest that little bit extra now and save later! Try to avoid trend pieces for your basics as you’ll be sick of them next season. Basics are supposed to be basic so they can fit with everything in your wardrobe, including the trend pieces.

Wrap dresses are one of those pieces you want to wear over and over… even when Summer is over (am I right?). They’re the ultimate efforless styling we’re all looking for in life. Are you with me? That one piece that you can just throw on, look like you’ve actually made effort and execute that ‘woke up like this’ vibe.
Well even though we’re well and truly into the depths of Winter, it doesn’t mean you can’t style your favourite piece with those Winter warmers. Layering adds dimension and depth to any outfit (not to mention warmth and comfort, am I right?!). Here I’ve styled the Everlasting Long Sleeve Shirt Dress in the Biscuit Chain Print with the Underground Pants in Black. You really can’t go wrong with a quality pair of black pants that can be those go-to everyday pair with endless amounts of styling opportunities. The Underground Pants have front detailed pleating with flared hems to give them that point of difference. If you’re anything like me, you love discovering a new print and working it into your fav looks. This gorgeous print has me dreaming of a European Summer but styled with the Underground pant its edgy and eclectic! The dress styled over the pants is such an easy styling tip but let’s be honest, it looks like you tried and you nailed it!
