Travel? No Trouble!

Sydney pic 1 Sydney pic 2 Sydney pic 3

This week I had the pleasure of traveling to Sydney to visit family… and to shop!

What a gorgeous city it is! Although the weather was unpredictable at times, it didn’t take away from this gorgeous Australian city.

I am definately addicted to travel! Whether it’s overseas or interstate – I love packing my bags and flying away!

Although I love travel and, ofcourse, I love fashion, I always find it challenging to get creative with my outfits while I’m away. There are so many factors you have to think about when packing clothes – what the weather will be like, who you’ll see, where you’ll go, casual or dressy… the list goes on!

Out of all I have in my wardrobe (and that’s a lot!) I couldn’t go past my chambray shirt dress. It’s long sleeved so it’s great for cool weather (or roll themย  up when the whether warms up), it’s soft and comfy for long trips, it’s cinched at the waist with a tie up belt for a softer silhouette and it’s the ultimate piece to dress up or down. Tone it done with tan accents, sandals and a large structured bag says cool casual. Or team it with pointed heels and a complimenting clutch for a day to night transformation. Did I mention they’re light and easy to pack?!

Not only is Sydney a gorgeous and famous city – it has A-M-A-Z-I-N-G shopping!!

Keep an eye out on future posts to see what I bought on my trip!

Is there anything better in the warm weather than a shirt dress?? It’s easy, comfy, cool and effortlessly stylish. And I mean effortless – throw it on, add sandals, say no more! There’s nothing worse than trying to style an outfit when it’s hot and you want comfort… but you also want style!

This dress by Imonni has a long, curved hem, side splits for movement and a tie-up belt to cinch in the waist. This dress is simply perfect for every figure. The cuffed sleeves slim the arms and shoulders and the buttons down the front elongate the figure – great for shorties like me!

I’m a big fan of neutrals so the black and white geometric combination was perfect for my wardrobe! Take a different angle on the shirt dress and wear it as a vest. Leave it un-buttoned but still tied up, teamed with jeans, a singlet, heels and a hat and you have a totally different look! (Or even layer it with a long sleeve underneath for the cooler months.)

Tip: Look out for curved hems on dresses to elongate your figure. Avoid even hems if you’re short as it can often cut you off and make you look shorter.

The Finer Things

IMG_1902 IMG_1901 IMG_1900 IMG_1899

Most of the time dressing casual is the norm. That doesn’t mean it has to be plain and boring though! (Even if you’re someone like me, who likes their neutrals!)

Jeans = tick! Knit = tick! Flats = tick! So you’ve got all of your go-to casual basics but you want to steer away from making your outfit another plain old jeans and top combo? Take care in the finer details of your outfit!

One of the best ways to get a different look and feel fresh is just simply by changing the way you wear those key pieces. Start with jeans – the most basic of basic wardrobe items, right? Well if you’re tired of the way they look on you then maybe its time for a new pair or a different cut. My tip to wake up your jeans is by simply cuffing them at the hem. Not so neat that ‘you did it on purpose’ but messy enough that you achieve the ‘I didn’t even try’ look!

I’m a self confessed knit wear addict! I adore Winter only for its cozy jumpers. I search all season and buy way too many, looking for that perfect one that washes well, keeps its shape and feels oh-so-soft! If you want to steer away from those heavy knits you already have that just consume you when you wear them, then try a knit with a different cut. Simple side splits, different arm lengths, ribbed fabric, high neck or off the shoulder – the list goes on. Go for a knit that works for you, that’s probably pricier but worth the cost and one that is neutral so you’ll get the wear out of it! Light knits with shorter sleeves are the ultimate transitional piece that will take care of you on those breezy Spring days.

Flats are every girls comfort shoe. It’s the safe choice – isn’t it? Just because it’s a flat, doesn’t mean it has to be boring. One of my ultimate pet hates is seeing a gorgeous outfit worn with plain, black, tatty flats with feet rolling out of them! Don’t worry, I love a comfy shoe just as much as the next girl. Look for a more structured flat that has simple detailing. Ankle lace-ups are a huge must for this Spring season. If you haven’t got your hands on a pair, now is the time to do so – you heard it here first! If you’re not into the lace-up trend, try a flat with discreet cut outs, a loafer style or lash out and try a brogue!

Just because your outfit is comfy and simple doesn’t mean it can’t exude style and fashion. Sometimes the finer details of an outfit make the loudest statement.

Tip: Add a thin, soft scarf for extra layers in your outfit, a little more colour and a heap of warmth!

Turn Another Leaf

IMG_1511 leaves pic 3 leaves pic 1leaves pic 2Finally! The warmer weather is among us! HALLELUJAH!

I’m sure you’ll all be just as happy as I am that the warmer weather has finally kicked in (well for now anyway!). And what better way to celebrate the warmer weather than laying on a beautiful Aussie beach?

That’s all great… but am I the only one who always finds it difficult to put an outfit together that is beach appropriate? And of course by appropriate I mean comfy, cool, easy to change in and out of, doesn’t-matter-if-it-gets-sandy and ofcourse chic! Well if you struggle too (and I know you do!) to match a top and bottoms for that effortless beach look, that so many girls are pulling off way too easily (am I right?!), look no further than a PLAYSUIT/JUMPSUIT!

You don’t have to waste time matching a top to your bottoms when all you want to do is go to the beach already! They automatically make you look chic and give you instant style cred. Jumpsuits/playsuits have been all over the catwalks for a while now and they aren’t going anywhere fast. They are super on trend, so even perfect with heels for that beach party where you need step it up a little more ๐Ÿ˜‰

My playsuit is by Milk and Honey from Myer and features a triangle cut out back, deep v in the front and belted with a tie-up waist band. So many different styles and cuts around right now that you really can be picky when it comes to finding the right one for you (although, like me, you’ll probably want them all!).

*Fun Fact… The difference between a playsuit and a jumpsuit is that the bottoms in a playsuit are shorts and in jumpsuits they are pants ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you’re anything like me, sometimes putting an outfit together is just too hard! Whether you’re running late, think you have nothing to wear or are just struggling to figure out what you want to wear, this tip is for you!

Vests are my number one go-to piece in my wardrobe for quick and effortless style. They are the statement of most outfits so you don’t have to think too hard about the rest! Go for a bold, contrasting colour to make your outfit pop or keep it simple with black or grey and complete the outfit mono-chromatically – a classy look that is so easy to execute!

If you are daring and willing to try a bold colour, keep the rest of your outfit simple so you don’t take attention away from the star of your outfit. I teamed this cut out white blouse with my cut out ankle boots to pull the look together while still keeping the bold, biker Cameo vest the centre of this outfit.

Well Spring hasn’t quite sprung yet – but almost! And although it’s exciting to see what the new season holds in the big wide world of fashion, it can often be a challenge to transition from your Winter to Spring wardrobe.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably be wanting to hide some very sun-deprived, pale legs! Wide leg pants have definitely made a strong comeback into fashion in these past few months. The high waist and the wide cuffs create the perfect long legged illusion (yay for us shorties!). A sheer pair are perfect for Spring as they introduce softer fabrics while not showing off too much skin (it’s still breezy after all!).

Just because it’s getting warmer doesn’t mean you have to run for the pastel and floral prints. Fear no more – Neutral tones are still very much okay. And yes navy is a neutral! Not only does it work with your Winter burgundy’s but it’s also the perfect companion to team with camel, white and nude tones for the warmer months ahead.

Throw on some lacey sandals and a curl in your hair and you’re half way to Spring!

That’s a Wrap!

IMGP8436_Fotor IMGP8416_Fotor IMGP8404 IMGP8493 IMGP8475 IMGP8477My obsession for unique cuts continues with the gorgeous wrap top from Azalia Boutique! This stunning piece crosses over at the front with a high collar and a floor length back.

Although it is a statement, it’s wear-ability is no question! Work it in with your wardrobe staples to add your own style. Contrast with bold white bottoms or add a pop of colour with a high waisted skirt or flared pants! If black’s not your colour, this beauty also comes in white (for those more daring!).

One of the best things about boutique shopping is that whatever is in this week is gone next week. Knowing that your piece is one of a kind and a style like no other is what makes what you pick so special! Azalia Boutique always carry a huge range of unique pieces so you’ll never walk away empty handed. If the wrap top is what you’re looking for be super quick to get your hands on one before they sell out!
