If it’s got a statement sleeve, give it to me!

It’s the trend that’s having a moment right now and it’s everywhere. I’m trying hard to control my statement sleeve addiction but I’m losing!

This shirt by C/MEO COLLECTIVE is a minimalist’s dream. Statement sleeves, polka dot print, deep-V and a key hole draw string back closure – because everything about this top has attention to detail.

A leather mini is always my go-to bottom, even in Summer when you can switch it up for a grey or white leather. Working with a lighter palette in a heavier fabric has the ability to be styled multiple ways throughout every season.

Way of Wear Turns 1!

DSC02870DSC02871DSC02874DSC02877

Happy 1st Birthday Way of Wear!

Wow! A whole year has passed since I started my fashion blog and it’s been a crazy and exciting ride since.

I’ve definitely learned that starting your own blog (or starting your own anything!) isn’t easy! It’s super challenging, sometimes very tiring and boy do you have to have a whole lot of motivation to keep it going. But it has been so much fun writing about fashion and styling and capturing it. I’ve met some incredible people along the way and I look forward to what 2016 brings for Way of Wear!

Oh and most importantly… THANK YOU!

If you’re reading this then I’m talking to you. Thank you all for reading, following, giving feedback and supporting me as I pursue my passion for fashion blogging! Every follow, every positive comment, every like is what feeds my motivation to keep me going. These things might seem small or irrelevant to you but they seriously play a major part in the growth of Way of Wear and, once again, thank you all for that!

I am excited for you to see what’s in store for Way of Wear in 2016!

Well I’m very excited to announce that this week I had the privilege to collaborate with Urban Girl Clothing to bring you these two looks!

I love discovering new places to shop. It can be hard though when you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, but you know you want to be rocking the latest pieces and styles that are on trend. Urban Girl is a cozy boutique in Cowndilla packed out with a huge range of diverse pieces and new styles constantly. They have heaps to choose from but you have to be quick as their stock is in high demand. Whatever you see on the racks this week, will be gone the next – so you won’t be caught wearing the same outfit as everyone else! It also makes the pieces you choose that little bit more special!

One thing’s for sure – they know what’s on trend! Silky, spaghetti strap cami’s have definitely made their comeback this season. This Talulah top is the ultimate wardrobe staple that will take you from the office to the cocktail party. Team it simply with cigarette style pants and your go-to heels or take the next step and team it with a bold coloured mini skirt to turn heads! Friday night outfit = DONE!

If you asked me what my favourite colour to wear last season was I would have said grey. Ask me this season… KHAKI! (And yes it is a Summer colour now!) Gone are the days it was only suitable for camo costumes – it’s made a comeback and what a comeback it is! This tone is so versatile that you can wear it with almost anything – even tassles! The apron style skirt has to be a standout for me this season. It’s such a fresh design and will easily be a trend that will see you through from Summer to Winter. The apron skirt is a must have this season and you MUST get your hands on one!

Whether you’re looking for a weekend outfit, updating your wardrobe or are just simply in need of some good old retail therapy (with helpful customer service and styling tips!), Urban Girl Clothing has you covered.

Well Spring hasn’t quite sprung yet – but almost! And although it’s exciting to see what the new season holds in the big wide world of fashion, it can often be a challenge to transition from your Winter to Spring wardrobe.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably be wanting to hide some very sun-deprived, pale legs! Wide leg pants have definitely made a strong comeback into fashion in these past few months. The high waist and the wide cuffs create the perfect long legged illusion (yay for us shorties!). A sheer pair are perfect for Spring as they introduce softer fabrics while not showing off too much skin (it’s still breezy after all!).

Just because it’s getting warmer doesn’t mean you have to run for the pastel and floral prints. Fear no more – Neutral tones are still very much okay. And yes navy is a neutral! Not only does it work with your Winter burgundy’s but it’s also the perfect companion to team with camel, white and nude tones for the warmer months ahead.

Throw on some lacey sandals and a curl in your hair and you’re half way to Spring!

Each month, online fashion mag, Cocktail Revolution release a street style gallery made up of fashion, spotted on everyday people on the street from all over Australia! It’s then put to the public to vote for their favourite style.

For the month of June I was not only lucky enough to be a part of the street style gallery, after being spotted in Rundle Mall, but I was lucky enough to be voted the favourite!

As a part of my prize I won a photo shoot featured on the winner’s profile on cocktailrevolution.net.au and was treated to getting my hair done by the lovely gentleman at Groove Haircutters in Adelaide.

Check out some of the snaps from the shoot above and be sure to head to http://cocktailrevolution.net.au/winners-profile/ for the full shoot and story!

+ take a look at the last shot which was the one that won the votes in the street style gallery!

The ultimate winter essential has to be a trench coat. Effortless style and oh so warm! I chose a woolen, charcoal, knee length coat to keep me cozy through the cooler months. Charcoal is a great tone to break up those winter blacks and to add another element to your outfit. A quirky camel colour works with those winter tones too. Not only does it bring colour to a cool outfit but it’s the perfect transition from freezing Winter to breezy Spring.

What’s a trench’s best friend? A felt hat, of course! Complete your Winter look with a hat that is the character of your effortless outfit. Proving that trench’s will take you from rain to shine, team it with a pair of flats as an alternative to your Winter boots. The trench is the staple piece that is worth investing in!

In all things fashion, trends make their way in and out of style… and then back in again! Just like this hippy, lace up number brought back from the 70’s – flared sleeves and all! This trend has taken off in the US and Europe and now its made its way to us in Oz. Although the 70’s were huge for floral prints and colours, this style has all the right vintage elements to work with a modern day, minimalist look.

The minimalist look is channeled in this look with dark indigo jeans and a sharp charcoal hat. But if you want to embrace your inner 70’s flower child then opt for this top in white, teamed with light wash, high waisted, flared jeans and a flower crown for the ultimate hippy vibe!

For a late dinner or drinks with the girls, team it with a pencil skirt, pointed patent heels and an elegant clutch, and you’ve made it from day to night. It’s a simple piece with some edgy touches, that make it perfect for creating lots of style options. Definately a staple worth the investement!
